Bacolod mayor urges employees to be generous in serving city

Posted on October 14, 2013

BACOLOD CITY, (PNA) — Employees of the city government here were urged by Mayor Monico Puentevella to be generous in serving the people and city itself.

“Continue to serve the city and center your inspiration to the Almighty,” he also told the employees.

Puentevella issued the call as the city workers celebrated the annual Employees’ Day Monday as part of the activities of the 2013 MassKara Festival that will run until Oct. 20.

“The people of Bacolod are grateful that you are working hard. Let us continue to serve them so that God will bless us even more,” Puentevella said, reflecting on the homily delivered by Fr. Raymond Asoy during the mass before the opening program.

Puentevella also said each city employee should be thankful for their occupation as there are many people who have no jobs.

The mayor also encouraged the city employees to take part in the Diamond Year celebration of Bacolod on Oct. 19 as the city is already starting to move forward.

“What we need now is business, livelihood and progress more than politics. It is about time to give more to our beloved city and go out of our way and make Bacolod better.”

Puentevella also thanked the traffic enforcers for their hardwork as he expressed his pride in their efforts of maintaining smooth traffic flow in Bacolod.

He said that he’s been receiving good feedback from drivers and commuters on the work of the traffic enforcers.
