MANILA, (PNA) — Twenty-five distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) arrived home late Thursday night after they availed of the government’ repatriation program.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) desk at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) said the OFWs flew in via Etihad Airlines flight EY-428 which arrived at Terminal 1 at 10:18 pm. The plane came in from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
OWWA said the OFWs volunteered to go home since they cannot work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia anymore due to lack of pertinent working papers.
The Saudi government started a crackdown on undocumented foreign workers in November last year as part of “Saudization”, a program which gives Saudi nationals priority to work in their own country.
