BACOLOD CITY, (PNA) -– Floods that hit southern and central Negros Occidental last week caused damage worth P76.748 million and affected 47,730 individuals, data from the Provincial Planning Development Office Monday (PPDO) showed.
Damage to palay in 12 local government units (LGUs) reached P56.109 million while to fisheries sector, P10.011 million. Irrigation infrastructures worth P8 million were also damaged.
Damage to high-value crops reached P515,965 while P2.111 million worth of livestock were lost.
The floods also affected 69 barangays in 11 LGUs. A total of 7,581 families or 47, 730 individuals were displaced while 77 houses were destroyed and 186 were damaged, the PPDO report also showed.
Those with destroyed houses will receive P5,000 each while those with damaged homes will be given P3,000.
The PPDO report does not yet include reports from the Provincial Engineering Office and the Provincial Health Office.
