CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, (PNA) –The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP)presided by Vice Governor Jose Gay Padiernos on Monday unanimously approved the resolution declaring Nueva Ecija under the state of calamity.
Padiernos said the declaration was made upon request by Governor Aurelio Umali as chair of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).
This as PDRRMC reported that typhoon “Santi” which brought tremendous winds destroyed over P3 billion worth of crops and infrastructures.
Padiernos said the state of calamity will pave the way for the release of over P39 million, part of the more than P100-million calamity fund of the province dubbed quick response fund.
Padiernos added this will enable employees from both public and private offices to borrow money from Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and Social Security System (SSS) for the repair of their damaged houses.
