BAKU, (PNA/Itar-Tass) –The opposition of Azerbaijan said it was dissatisfied with the results of the presidential elections.
The opposition said it demanded the results of the elections be overturned. It has organized a rally, which was authorized by the authorities and involved from 3,000 to 5,000 people.
Leaders of the opposition said the elections “were not free, democratic and transparent”. Presidential candidate from the National Council of Democratic Forces Dzhamil Gasanli said, “The opposition does not recognize the results of the elections and will do its best to overturn them.”
The participants in the rally adopted a resolution saying the opposition considered the results of the elections invalid.
According to the Central Election Commission, incumbent President Ilkham Aliyev won 84.55 percent of votes. The opposition received 5.53 percent of votes.
