MANILA, (PNA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday activated the National Headquarters Disaster Incident Management Task Group to coordinate all disaster response operations of PNP Units in areas threatened by Typhoon Santi.
On instructions of PNP Chief, Director General Alan L. Purisima, Police Director Lina Sarmiento, PNP Director for Police Community Relations and concurrent Task Group Commander, alerted Regional Directors in areas along the projected path of Typhoon Santi, particularly, provinces along the eastern seaboard of Luzon.
The state weather bureau has raised Typhoon Warning signals in most parts of Luzon including some island provinces that are forecast to experience strong winds, and heavy to intense rainfall.
Sarmiento also mobilized National Support Units that compose the Task Group to muster troops and resources for possible deployment to areas affected by floods, landslides and collapsed structures.
She added that these disaster response-capable units include, Special Action Force, Maritime Group, Highway Patrol Group, Police Community Relations Group,as well as the Regional Public Safety Battalions.
