ILAGAN CITY, Isabela, (PNA) — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) is bracing for the entry of typhoon “Santi” with preparatory measures now in place as the province is one of the 14 areas in Luzon placed under storm warning signal No. 3.
Areas under signal No. 3 are expected to have winds from 60 to 100 kph.
Tyhoon “Santi” is expected to make a landfall over Aurora-Isabela Friday night or early Saturday.
Lawyer Maricel Ramil, PDRRMC spokesman, said the PDRRMC has prepositioned relief goods to the four coastal towns of Isabela namely the towns of Dinapigue, Palanan, Maconacon and Divilacan since Thursday.
Ramil said rescue teams were already activated as Thursday and are on stand by mode anytime that the PDRRMC will deploy them in often flooded areas in province.
Classes from pre-school, elementary and secondary schools both in public and private were suspended Friday.
Meanwhile, Magat dam in Ramon town has yet open any spillway gates as of Friday morning as the water elevation is at 189.37 meters, still below the spilling level of 193.00 meters.
However, the dam management said they will start the release of water anytime today in anticipation to the large volume of water that Santi will bring.
