MMDA says Makati roads closed to vehicular traffic Friday for Megan’s victory parade

Posted on October 10, 2013

By Christopher Lloyd T. Caliwan

MANILA, (PNA) — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday advised motorists to take alternate routes as some roads in Makati City willbe closed to traffic for the victory parade on Friday for Miss World 2013 Megan Lynne Young.

The victory parade will come after her courtesy call on President Benigno Aquino III Friday morning.

In its advisory, MMDA said that the Ayala Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday to make way for Young’s victory parade.

Young’s victory parade will start at 2 p.m. from the Petro Station on Buendia Avenue (Gil Puyat Avenue) corner Makati Avenue and pass through Ayala Avenue towards Edsa, culminating at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The MMDA expects heavy traffic, thus advised affected motorists to take the following alternate routes:

All vehicles along EDSA, must proceed right to Buendia Avenue, right at Paseo de Roxas, left at Jupiter Street, Metropolitan Avenue, left Don Chino Roces Avenue, right at Buendia Avenue to their destination.

For those going to the Makati City Central Business District, all vehicles along South Super Highway must take Buendia Avenue then right to Makati Avenue to Makati CBD.

Traffic enforcers from the Makati Department of Public Safety will be deployed ahead of the parade to guide motorists.

Young, the First Filipina to win the Miss World Crown returned to her home country to celebrate her historic triumph with fans and supporters.

She bested 126 candidates on September 28, 2013 in Miss World’s 62nd edition at the Nusa Bali Convention Center in Bali, Indonesia.c
