Marian to replace Angel in product endorsement?

Posted on May 17, 2008

PNS — MARIAN Rivera has been chosen Phenomenal Star of 2007 at the 38th Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation. Marian’ s success as Marimar is truly phenomenal.

But what is odd is that Marian was also nominated as Most Promising Star. She is not a newcomer in showbiz. Shouldn’t that award be given instead to upcoming stars?

Marian gives credit to Direk Joyce Bernal (her director in “Marimar”) for her winning the award.

“Malaki ang naitulong ni Direk Joyce sa pag-arte ko, sa pakikisalamuha ko sa mga tao. Gusto ko rin magpasalamat sa mga taong nagmamahal at sumusuporta sa akin,” she said. Marian also gives credit to her fans and supporters who love and adore her, and believe in her talent.

Does she wish to be crowned box-office queen next year?

“Ang hirap kasi magsabi na gusto ko ganito ako. Siguro tanggapin ko na lang kung ano ang ibigay sa akin. Sobra-sobra na ang ibinibigay sa akin ni Lord. Masaya ako na maraming tao ang nagmamahal sa akin. Iyon pa lang masayang-masaya na ako,” Marian added.

She’s also a much sought after product endorser. Is it true that she’s set to replace Angel Locsin as product endorser for a certain brand? “Ayan na naman, ayan na naman. Hindi ko alam. Kasi ako, bilang artista at talent, ang manager ko ang nakikipag-usap. Wala akong alam sa ganoong bagay. Ang sa akin, ino-offer sa akin, ginagawa namin at masaya ako na nagtitiwala sila sa akin,” she says.

The 38th GMMSF Awards was held last Tuesday night at the RCBC Plaza in Makati City. It will be aired on May 17, Saturday, 7-9 p.m. on NBN 4 and Net 25. It will have a replay on May 24, Saturday, 6-8 p.m. on Cinema One.

An annual awards presentation of the Guillermo Foundation, this much-awaited industry event takes pride in being the only industry awards presentation which gives honor and recognition to the best artists of the movie, television and music industries. This is also one of the most star-studded and well-attended industry events, as proven by its annual attendees and awardees.

This year’s major awardees include John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo as the Box Office King and Queen, Aga Muhlach and Maricel Soriano as Film Actor and Actress of the Year, Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin as the Prince and Princess of Philippine Movies and Television.

Other awardees are Piolo Pascual, Martin Nievera, Sarah Geronimo, Marian Rivera, Bamboo, Sitti, Gerald Anderson, Kim Chiu, Calla Lily, EB Babes, Star Cinema, Makisig Morales, Kiray Celis, Jose Manalo, Mart Escudero and special awardees Vic Sotto, Marian Rivera, Richard Gutierrez and Ms. Sharon Cuneta. PCSO, headed by general manager Rosario C. Uriarte was also given the Grand Meritorious Award for Government and Public Service.
