CANDABA, Pampanga, (PNA) — The embattled local chief executive of this town on Sunday denied any involvement in the alleged misuse of at least P900 million Malampaya fund.
Mayor Rene Maglanque said he is optimistic that after observing legal processes involving the Malampaya fund issue, his name will be cleared as the truth comes out.
“We are not involved there and we have nothing to do in what they are saying against us,” Maglanque said.
He also welcomed the investigation, saying that his conscience is clear and he has no hand in any transaction pertaining to the use of Malampaya fund.
He insisted that the complaint filed against him is without basis.
“The allegations being hurled against us have no basis. I was also surprised with what’s happening,” he said.
The mayor likewise said that he is ready to face the investigation.
In fact, he has already met with his lawyers who are now tasked to counter the latter in order to prove his innocence, Maglanque said.
“We will face those accusations at the right time to prove that we are not involved in the alleged misue of the Malampaya fund,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, he assured the Candabenios that the controversy will not affect the delivery of the basic services and programs by the municipal government.
“As a mayor, our services to our cabalen here in Candaba will not be interrupted. We will not allow those issues to affect the programs and projects meant for our constitutuents,” he added.
