Army soldier gunned down inside KTV bar in Roxas City

Posted on October 5, 2013

ILOILO CITY, (PNA) — An army soldier was gunned down Friday evening by a still unidentified assailant following a rumble inside the KTV bar along Arnaldo Boulevard in Roxas City.

The Roxas City PNP has identified the victim as Pfc Eldrin Bornales, 38, of Brgy. Dulangan, Pilar, Capiz who is presently assigned at the 301st Infantry Brigade based in Dingle, Iloilo.

The army soldier succumbed to a lone but fatal gunshot wound on his breast the bullet of which pierced on his back that caused his instantaneous death.

The victim’s brother-in-law Marlon Palencia, 40, was injured after an irate group of unidentified men ganged-up and beat him.

In its investigation, the Roxas City PNP said the bloody incident happened after the army soldier acted rudely inside the Paraiso KTV bar due to heavy intake of intoxicating drink.

A rumble transpired after one of the customers was hit by a drinking glass thrown by the tipsy and berserk soldier.

The scenario enraged other bar patrons who bent their ire on Palencia who was beaten black and and blue.

But few minutes later, two gun fires echoed that saw the bloody soldier slumped at the center island of the road fronting the KTV bar.

Meanwhile, the Roxas City PNP has invited three men working in the said KTV bar to be placed under paraffin examination.

The body of the slain soldier, on the other hand, will be subjected for an autopsy examination.
