DepEd’s Tacloban City Division inaugurates new office

Posted on October 4, 2013

TACLOBAN CITY, (PNA) — The Tacloban City Division of the Dept. of Education (DepEd) highlighted the celebration of the World’s Teacher’s Day with the inauguration of its new office at the San Fernando Central School here today.

The project, now nearing its completion, is funded by DepEd central office. More than P16 million has been spent for the first three phases.

City Information Officer Bernardita B. Valenzuela who represented Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez extended the chief executive’s felicitations as she assured the support of the city government on all continuing and upcoming programs of the City Division.

To recall last March, Mayor Romualdez handed out some P2.6 million worth of financial assistance to the Division of City Schools for the Brigada Eskwela Program.

From its Special Education Fund (SEF), the city government yearly allocates funding for the division’s priority projects.

Meantime, the Library Hub adjacent to the new division office was a recipient of a P4 million fund from the office of Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin FM Romualdez.

Today’s inauguration was attended by DepEd Undersecretary Mario A. Deriquito and local DepEd officials led by Regional Director Luisa Bautista-Yu and OIC City Division Superintendent Gorgonio Diaz.

The new office will be serving 53 elementary and secondary schools under the City Division.
