TEHRAN, (PNA/IRNA) -– Senior member of the Expediency Council, Mohammad-Hossein Saffar Harani, said on Friday that Iran needs to engage with the world, at least because of the need to eliminate oppression on the nation.
Saffar Harandi made the remarks in an address to a gathering of Friday prayer worshippers at Tehran University campus, before the interim Friday prayer leader delivered his sermon.
He referred to recent changes in Iran’s foreign diplomacy and phone conversation between Iranian and US presidents in New York as tactical changes to protect national interests.
He noted that however, Iran is not the only country in need of changing the ongoing condition.
He went on to say that the president and other Iranian officials are unanimous that the principles of the Islamic system have by no means undergone change.
In his presidential campaign, President Rohani promised to go ahead with a new way to engage with the world, while at the same time he pledged to remain loyal to the principles of the Islamic system and the guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the late founder of Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, the political analyst added.
