S & T fair to showcase ICT products for smarter Visayas

ILOILO CITY, (PNA) — The Visayas Cluster Science and Technology Fair will be held in this southern city on Oct. 16-18 to showcase Information and Communications Technology products and innovations in Regions 6, 7 and 8.

This year’s fair, themed “Science, Technology and Innovation: The Way to Smarter Visayas,” will be held at SM City Iloilo.

Science and Technology Regional Director Rowen Gelonga said they expect about 500 participants to attend the three-day event.

The participants will be treated to a project visit in selected places in Iloilo and Guimaras hosting S &T projects.

The S & T fora will have discussions on Learning Innovations equals Smarter People on Starbooks: Science and Technology digital library; learning English application for Pinoys through English proficiency software; Smarter Disaster Management equals Empowered Communities through Project Noah; and S & T developments on volcanology and seismology.

Also included are the launching of MOSES tablet and NOAH survival kit.

Other topics include ICT Innovations equals Smarter People with product presentations from three Visayan regions; Smarter Materials equals Globally Competitive Industries through Biodegradable Packaging Materials; S & T Innovations in Fibers and Fabrics, Natural Dyes and Colorants; and Nano technology applications in industry.

Discussions on health plus environment plus innovations equals smarter living through smarter health care, and smarter environment coral restoration are also scheduled as well as talk on micro, small and medium enterprises on S & T innovations.
