DUMAGUETE CITY, (PNA) — The city government of Dumaguete, through the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Office and its partner agencies, has set several activities to highlight the celebration of the Children’s Week Celebration from Oct 7 to 11.
This year’s celebration banner on the theme: “Kahirapan Wakasan, Karapatang Pambata Ipaglaban”.
The celebration aims to encourage stakeholders to help reduce poverty and to advocate for stronger holistic actions, particularly preventive measures to address problems on poverty, said Syril Repe of the city information office.
The activities lined up for the celebration include a Thanksgiving Mass at the St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral and a street parade on Monday.
On Tuesday, a Minus One Singing Contest and Draw and Tell Contest will be held at the Robinsons Place shopping mall.
Other highlights include a Children’s Fun Day sponsored by the Dumaguete Day Care Parents Federation and the Rotary Club of Dumaguete North and a Folk Dance Presentation
The Children’s Week is an annual event recognizing the talents, skills, achievement and rights of children.
