Aquino appoints new gov’t officials and city prosecutors

MANILA, (PNA) — President Benigno S. Aquino III has appointed new government officials and city prosecutors, a Palace official said.

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said during the regular press briefing in Malacanang on Friday that the Chief Executive signed on September 27 the appointment letters of Atty. Ansharey S. Lalia as Prosecutor IV, Office of the City Prosecutor-Cagayan de Oro City; Atty. Aljay O. Go as Prosecutor IV, Office of the City Prosecutor-Butuan City and Atty. Melvin A. Lamata as Prosecutor IV, Office of the City Prosecutor-Kidapawan City, all under the Department of Justice’s National Prosecution Service.

Valte said President Aquino also appointed on Sept. 27 Marlea P. Muñez, as Executive Director of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples. Her term of office is co-terminus with the appointing authority.

According to Valte, the President named Maria Paz R. Alberto, John Patrick Y. Chan and Joan Denise Y. Tiu as members of the Board of Directors of Duty Free Philippines Corporation under the Department of Tourism. Their term of office began on July 1, 2013 until June 30, 2014.

Also appointed were Eduardo V. de Mesa and Serafin U. Salvador Jr. as members of the Board of Directors, North Luzon Railways Corporation, for a term of office beginning on July 1, 2013, and ending on June 30, 2014.
