MANILA, (PNA) — Typhoon Quedan has maintained its strength as it continued to move over the Philippine Sea and was expected to be out of the country by Saturday evening, the state weather forecaster said Friday.
In a phone interview, weather forecaster Glaiza Escullar said that as of 4 p.m. the the eye of Quedan was at 720 km East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (23.0°N,129.5°E) and packed maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
With its movement and speed, Quedan was expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday evening or Sunday morning and would be headed towards southeast of China, she added.
