CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, (PNA) — At least 27 different kind of firearms and ammunitions were confiscated in several police checkpoints and conduct of search warrants in Nueva Ecija since the start of gun ban on September 28.
Newly- installed regional police director Chief Supt. Raul Petrasanta, in a press conference Thursday here, said the seized firearms and ammunition conducted by Nueva Ecija police is part of his directive to confiscate all loose firearms in Central Luzon.
“We will continue to conduct checkpoints and search warrants to confiscate loose firearms in the region so that there will peace and orderly barangay and SK elections,” Petrasanta said.
Senior Superintendent Crisaldo Nieves, Nueva Ecija police provincial director, said that the confiscated firearms include M-16 rifle, .45 pistols, revolvers, .9mm pistol, a caliber .25 and caliber .22 pistol and different ammunition and magazines.
Likewise, he said that at least 22 persons were arrested during the conduct of checkpoints.
Nieves also reported that the Provincial Public Safety Company raided on Thursday the house of Arnold Nagayo, 47, of Barangay Malapit, San Isidro, Nueva Ecija and confiscated from his possessions an M-16 rifle, two caliber .45 pistols, a .9mm pistol, a caliber .25 and caliber .22.
The raiding team armed with search warrant issued by Judge Celso Baguio of Regional Trial Court branch 34, Gapan City.
The search was done in orderly and peaceful manner with the presence of barangay officials, Nieves added.
