Kaspersky Lab unveils latest security software for Internet users

Posted on October 3, 2013

MANILA, (PNA) — Kaspersky Lab has launched the latest version of its Kaspersky Internet Security and Anti-Virus software which will further boost protection of data and information of Internet users from hacking and malicious software attacks by cybercriminals in Greenbelt, Makati City Thursday..

In his remarks at the event, Bryan Sat, Kaspersky Lab Business Development Manager for the Philippines, said more people conduct transactions online for banking and shopping, use social networking, store personal photos or videos on their tablets and store their passwords such as email and social networking accounts on their mobile devices. “People have begun to fear for the safety of their personal data as access to Internet steadily increases,” according to Sat.

Based on data reported by the Kaspersky Security Network, about 200,000 new malicious software or malware samples emerge everyday compared to 125,000 just a year ago. Cybercriminals make millions of dollars by using malware, including sophisticated Trojans and phishing scams, which are sent through carefully crafted email designed to appear legitimate, steal personal information from online bank accounts and social networking profiles.

“Criminals use these data for kidnapping, stealing money, hacking, insurance bank/loan fund, among others,” the Kaspersky official stated.

Several innovative antivirus technologies have been added to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2014, which significantly improve user protection.

Both products include Kaspersky Lab’s proprietary Zero-day, Exploit and Targeted Attack (ZETA) shield antivirus technology which performs an in-depth scan of files and applications running on the computer to identify malware that may hide deep within individual components of each program. It updates behavioral rules by providing targets for analysis and help to effectively define malicious codes.

Its Anti-Blocker technology defends online users against Trojans that restrict access to the system and demand money for restrictions to be lifted. Users of the new Kaspersky Lab solutions have to press one simple key combination and Anti-Blocker will find and remove the malware completely.

Kaspersky Lab’s Safe Money Technology has provided an extremely reliable additional layer of protection for online financial operations. The technology has been improved in Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 including support for more web browsers and a significantly expanded list of trusted online banking sites, payment services, and online stores.

Another innovation is the Trusted Applications mode which protects the computer by allowing launch of trusted applications based on the extensive and constantly updated Kaspersky Lab Whitelisting database of legitimate applications.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 and Anti-Virus Security 2014 are now available in all leading IT stores nationwide beginning this month.
