BANGKOK, (PNA/Xinhua) — Peruvian President Ollanta Humala will make an official visit to Thailand as guest of the Thai government on Friday.
According to the Thai Foreign Ministry, the Peruvian president will visit Thailand on Oct. 4-5. He will arrive at Bangkok Don Mueang Airport late Friday night.
The president of Peru’s visit to Thailand will take place before attending the 21st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Bali, Indonesia on Oct. 5-7.
This will be the fourth official visit by a Peruvian president to Thailand since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1965.
The visit reflects the close and cordial ties enjoyed by the two countries, as well as the fact that Thailand is Peru’s important partner in Southeast Asia, said the Foreign Ministry press release.
It added that the visit is also a reflection of growing links between Latin America and Thailand, to which Thailand attaches importance, and interdependence between both sides of the Pacific, which is fundamental to APEC’s future.
During the visit, Ollanta Humala will be granted an audience with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, hold a bilateral discussion with Thai prime minister, and meet with the president of the National Assembly as well as representatives of Thailand’s private sector and academia.
