Tabaco City hall annex building needs more fund for finishing works

Posted on October 3, 2013

By Richard Almonte

TABACO CITY, (PNA) – The good news is that the construction of the city hall annex building is already completed and the finishing works of the ground, second and mezzanine floors are on final stage.

The bad news is that the third, fourth and fifth floors, including the roof deck, are still to be finished but works are pending for lack of budget.

City engineer Noel Bonaobra told PNA Thursday that the estimated additional budget to finish the building is P30 million.

According to Bonaobra, the allocated amounts for the different phases were: Phase I, P40 million; Phase II, P40 million and Phase III, P50 million.

The city engineer said these phases of the city hall annex building construction have already been accomplished.

He added that the finishing of ground, second and mezzanine floors is expected to be completed on Nov. 25.

Bonaobra said the construction of the annex building started on August 5, 2011, with the construction’s Phase I begun during the term of former mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro.

To finance the completion of city hall annex, Vice Mayor Reynaldo Bragais proposed a resolution during the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlunsod (SP) of Tabaco on Monday “requesting City Mayor Maria Josefa Demetriou to allocate funds for the finishing works of the Tabaco City Hall Annex in the 2014 Annual Budget.”

The resolution is expected to be passed on the next SP regular session, which is scheduled every Monday.

With Bragais as the author and City Councilor Ronnel Borromeo as the sponsor, the resolution said the construction of the city hall annex is already completed and the finishing works of the ground, second and mezzanine floors are in final stage.

He, however, said that there is a need to finish the third and fourth floors of the new building to house the offices of the SP and other departments.

Bragais said the present offices of the SP and other departments are no longer sufficient to accommodate the clients having business with them.

After their session, the SP members and Bonaobra personally inspected the annex building to find out its status.
