ILOILO, (PNA) — Two of the six water systems in Dueñas town funded by the provincial government of Iloilo were inaugurated Wednesday in rites led by Governor Arthur Defensor Sr.
These two projects are benefiting hundreds of residents in Barangays Calawinan and Navalas. Each of the project costs P300,000 and P461,256, respectively.
The funds used to implement the projects came from the province’s supplemental budget last year.
The other water systems are in Barangays Bita, P204,230; Sawe, P293,386; Sto Niño, P265,000; and Romblon Elementary School, P207,282.
The provincial government has provided Dueñas P1.73-million worth of water systems that are now all operational.
Defensor ordered to intensify the construction of water systems in upland and island-barangays to improve accessibility to potable, safe and reliable water supply for residents in these areas.
“I do not want the people now to suffer the consequences of drinking unsafe water from wells and rivers, which I used to when I was still an elementary pupil in Mina,” the governor said.
