ILAGAN CITY, Isabela, (PNA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional office 2 has included the participation of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino (4Ps) beneficiaries in the National Greening Program (NGP).
Forestry specialist Alfonso Calimag Jr. said during the recent Tipon Tipan sa PIA that there is initial involvement of 4Ps beneficiaries in the greening program which the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region 2 (DSWD)-2 has recommended.
Calimag said there is at least an initial 150 4Ps beneficiaries tapped by DENR-2 in its reforestation program in the town of San Mariano and they are being paid through the cash-for-work program of DSWD.
Calimag said that through the recommendation of the DSWD 2 to tap 4Ps beneficiaries in the reforestation program, the DENR-2 has accepted the proposal and involved the 4Ps in the greening program.
He said there will be plan to expand the involvement of 4Ps beneficiaries to the reforestation program in the region depending on the recommendation of the DSWD-2.
The DENR 2 has at least planted five million assorted tree seedlings in 8,000 hectares in the region since it was implemented more than two years ago.
Calimag said 22,000 jobs have been created since the NGP was implemented in Cagayan Valley region.
