BACOLOD CITY, (PNA) — Forty-two schools have initially confirmed participation in this year’s 18th FilOil University Games (UniGames) slated on Oct. 20-28 at the University of St. La Salle (USLS) here.
UniGames is the only collegiate sports competition for both public and private colleges and universities in the country.
Roger Banzuela, president of UniGames, said that schools from Zamboanga City, Marawi City, and Tawi-Tawi are not joining due to the peace and order situation in their localities.
However, more schools are expected to confirm soon, he said.
The athletes will compete in athletics, chess, taekwondo, football, table tennis, lawn tennis, swimming, volleyball, beach volleyball, karatedo, and sepak takraw.
USLS is the home of UniGames founded by the late Bro. Rolando Dizon, FSC in 1996.
This year’s event is supported by Sonak Sports, Pocari, and Redbull, Molten, Mikasa and City Government of Bacolod.
