BALANGIGA, Eastern Samar, (PNA) — Youth representation should not be abolished but instead, reforms should be instituted to address issues that have been hounding the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK).
This was the view of Eastern Samar lone district Rep. Ben Evardone as he explained that the postponement of the SK elections this October 28 will pave the way to discussions on how their representation can be improved.
He cited that among of the issues was that the SK has since served as “breeding ground for corruption.”
“There is need to reform the SK system,” he said.
However, while the SK elections supposedly set this October 28 has been postponed, there will no longer be a hold over capacity for its incumbent officials, he added.
