(Lead) Vice Governor presides provincial board session amidst election case

SANTA CRUZ, Laguna (PNA) — Amid the tempest brewing at the Laguna Provincial Capitol due to disqualification charges lodged against incumbent Laguna Gov. Jeorge ER Ejercito Estregan by the Comelec first division lately, Vice Gov. Ramil Hernandez said on Wendesday the provincial legislative operations are unhampered.

As scores of Estregan supporters, community leaders and town folks massed at the Provincial Capitol Cultural Center, Hernandez presided the regular session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial legislative council) at the Session Hall.

Hernandez disclosed that the “bokals” (provincial legislative board members) discussed the usual agenda and other priority projects and concerns.

He said that the entire provincial board is supportive of Governor Ejercito’s projects despite political party lines.

Hernandez also appealed to some quarters here not to pick on him as he denied being involved in the filing of the disqualification case against the Governor.

He said he was not aware of the poll case but would only comply with whatever is required of the law.

The Vice Governor also assured that the ER administration continues with the normal operations and public services are not affected by the political turmoil.

Hernandez admitted the Governor extended the invitation for the Vice Governor and provincial legislators even with the official announcement for the event.

But, he decided to forgo attendance to the event sensing some sectors may cause a stir and put him in an awkward situation.

Hernandez however allowed his supporters and staff to attend the “unity mass” and gathering.
