Posted on October 1, 2013

BACOLOD CITY, (PNA) — A 36-round card of professional boxing will be featured here as part of the celebration of 2013 Masskara Festival on Oct. 12, 6 p.m, at the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center.

Local boy Juren Labordo, who is being groomed as another prospect for stardom by ALA Promotions, will fight in the 10-round main event against Valencia City’s Marzon Cabilla in the 112 lbs.

Labordo, a former Palarong Pambansa medalist for Western Visayas, scored a first round knockout against Ricky Sabia of Elorde Stable-Metro Manila during the “ALA-Cobra Tunay na Lakas Boxing” last July 21 at the same venue.

Three six-round battles will also pit Bacolodnon boxers against separate opponents.

Roan Servania, younger brother of WBO Asia-Pacific super bantamweight champion Genesis “Azukal” Servania, will battle Antique’s Marlon Macayan in the special attraction in 115 lbs. Roan’s first pro bout ended in unanimous decision over Jonas Zultan of Zamboanga Del Norte also last July 21.

Royroy Sumugat will face Butuan City’s Rolly Llino in 126 lbs. while John Rey Melligen will fight Valencia City’s Arnel Acebuque, also in 126 lbs.

Melligen won his first professional bout, but lost his second against Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo of Tagbilaran City in a unanimous decision of the four-round special attraction in the featherweight category during the launching of “Idol 1” in Escalante City last Aug 24.

Bacoleño Alvin Sibugan, who tasted his first victory also last July 21, will meet Glen Cantiveros of Valencia City in 108 lbs. while Ruben Sibugan will fight Brian Johnson of Butuan City in 110 lbs.
