MANILA, (PNA) — Philippine Airlines on Tuesday said that its flights to the US will all proceed as scheduled amid the shutting down of the US Federal Government on Monday midnight.
“Flights of PAL to the US will remain normal despite the general shutdown of the US Federal Government that took effect midnight of Oct. 1st,” PAL said in an advisory.
“PAL flights to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Honolulu and Guam will continue based on the declaration by the US Department of Homeland Security ‘that TSA (Transportation Security Administration) operations will not be impacted’ by the US government shutdown, according to Brian Cahill, Federal Security Director, Homeland Security Dept.,” PAL added.
The US Federal Government officially shut down for the first time in 17 years after House Republicans refused to drop demands that parts of the Affordable Care Act be delayed in return for approval of a mandatory government funding bill.
Reports said most federal offices will be closed until Congress reaches a deal. The shutdown is the first one of its kind since 1996, when the government closed for 26 days under President Bill Clinton.
