LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, (PNA) — Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala will be the guest of honor and speaker during the formal opening of the five-day Makina Saka Program of the Department of Agriculture here on Tuesday.
Slated up to October 4, the Makina Saka program had its soft opening Monday at the premises of the Pangasinan Trade and Development Center near the provincial capitol, showcasing various agricultural machinery and technologies perfected by the Agriculture department and other government agencies.
Alcala will speak during the formal opening of the five-day activity at 1:00 p.m. at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen, after which a press conference will be held.
The five-day roadshow showcases the latest agri machinery, equipment and technologies which farmers could avail through DA’s programs and projects for farmers as well as exhibits.
Actual demonstration and seminar conferences about present technology updates to the local government executives (LGEs), municipal agricultural officers, irrigators and farmers’ groups and agricultural technicians are also slated.
During the soft opening today, Pangasinan Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard Baraan, speaking for Governor Amado Espino Jr. welcomed the participants of the five-day roadshow with products coming from different parts of Luzon.
Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim stressed the importance of the five-day Makina-Saka Program which aims to teach local farmers how to innovate their approaches and methodologies in their farming activities so that they can improve the harvests and consequently their lives and that of their families.
