BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, (PNA/Xinhua) — Arriving passengers will be received at the new spacious Arrival Hall as preparations are being made for the opening of the Brunei International Airport’s new Arrival Hall on Tuesday, the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) of the Ministry of Communications of Brunei said Monday.
It is envisaged that the overall look and feel of the airport will be modernized with the introduction of an open concept of high ceiling space for the new departure and arrival halls, as well as additional retail areas.
The expansion is expected to double the airport’s handling capacity from 1.5 million to 3 million passengers annually. The modernized airport is also expected to boost Brunei’s efforts to develop itself as a competitive air logistics hub in the region.
With the opening, the existing departure check-in hall is now accessible both from the usual departure drop-off area, using the escalators and lift within the new Arrival Hall.
