MANILA, (PNA) — Cevio Art Haus, the latest to join the art gallery zone in the metropolis, formally opens its inaugural group show on Oct 5 in an inner street of Barangay Kapitolyo in Pasig City.
The place — 60 San Isidro St. — is near the bustling business district of Ortigas Center, on a nearly 500 square-meter fanciful lot near Shaw Blvd.
The two-story gallery, which overlooks the meandering Pasig River which empties into Manila Bay, has been restructured from a residential structure “to one with a nurturing climate for creativity and appreciation of artistic work.”
The inaugural group show, which starts promptly at 7 p.m., will present live graffiti painting, poetry reading session, performance art, dj mixing and band jamming, according to its owner, lawyer Cecilio “Bodjie” Tobillo, a clerk of court at a Makati City Regional Trial Court.
He said more than 70 visual artists would be participating in the inaugural group show, which runs until Oct 18, but stopped short of identifying them except that “the exhibiting artists represent various genres, creative persuasions and decisive impulses.”
According to Tobillo, Cevio Art Haus “hopes to influence a more democratic plane of artistic production and presentation of lesser known talents.”
He added: “While Cevio Art Haus adheres to the dynamics of the art market. (it) primarily commits itself to emerging artists, obscured and marginalized artists from the regions; the creative minds that thrive outside the art capital of Manila.”
The place will also be a venue for private dinners and similar functions.
