BACOLOD CITY, (PNA) — The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) satellite office here has warned applicants for work in South Korea to be wary against language training centers offering Korean language classes and promising their students hiring and deployment.
No school or language institution has the capacity to appoint, select or hire applicants for work in South Korea, the POEA-Bacolod said in a press statement Friday.
It added that Korean language training is not a mandatory requirement for an applicant-worker to be considered.
Applicants can self-learn the language and if they pass the test administered by Human Resources Development Services- Korea they will beeligible for hiring, it said.
The POEA website www.poea.gov.ph has a reviewer for those taking the Korean language.
With a government to government agreement, South Korea and the Philippines will be selecting, hiring and deploying applicants through the POEA Government Placement Branch, the agency also said.
Applicants must register online at the POEA website and wait for the scheduled testing, it said.
At present, women are not yet considered and only male aged 18-38 years are allowed to register.
Moreover, the POEA advised Korean language centers offering trainings to be very careful with their information materials.
They should indicate only the language they are teaching and not attach the language training to POEA government- to government hiring, the POEA statement said.
