MANILA, (PNA) — Sen. Teofisto Guingona III insisted that the P50 million allegedly given to each senator who voted to oust Corona was not an incentive for any political favor.
“Please take note that the impeachment trial that ousted former chief justice Renato Corona happened in May 2012. The P50 million was allocated in December 2012,” Guingona said in a statement.
He explained that the amount was sourced through the overall savings of the national government and released under a program called Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).
This fact, Guingona said, came from the Dept. of Budget and Management.
He also noted that the said amount was released to the Dept. of Public Works and Highways to augment its Program, Activity, Project.
The amount, Guingona added, benefitted various infrastructure projects, including local projects nationwide.
“You can always see the disbursement of my priority development assistance fund (PDAF) by checking the website of DBM: www.dbm.gov.ph,” Guingona said.
“One of the projects where the said P50 million was allocated to is this Rural Health Unit in Bry. Sto Niño, Nueva Ecija which I personally inaugurated and even posted photos of two months ago,” he added.
