Amateur boxing referees/judges ask ABAP to act on their withdrawal of support to Picson

Posted on September 27, 2013

DAVAO CITY, (PNA) -– The Amateur Boxing Referees/Judges and Technical Officials Association of the Phils., Inc. (ABREJAP) is asking the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) to act on their resolution withdrawing support for ABAP Executive Director Edgar Picson for “loss of confidence.”

“ABAP still (has) no answer regarding to our resolution, and he (Picson) is still in the office,” said ABREJAP president Dante de Castro in his email.

ABREJAP, which is the technical arm of ABAP, passed resolution No. 02-2013 signed by all the officers and board of directors during their meeting at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila last May 26.

Among those present in the meeting were vice-president for Luzon Darcito Teodoro, VP for Visayas Simplicio Quima, VP for Mindanao Ramon Vicente, Secretary Allan Flores, Chairman R/J Commission Jesus San Esteban, Board of Directors Rolando Jose, Celestino Revemonte, Victorio Policarpio, Billy Famero and treasurer Maximo Abalos, Artemio Codilla, Tito Dacuma and Cildo Evasco.

He said copies of the resolution were already given to re-elected ABAP Chairman Manny Pangilinan, president Ricky Vargas and the rest of the ABAP board and officials.

“No ABREJAP member or members shall officiate in any boxing tournament that Mr. Edgar Picson is involved with,” the ABREJAP said.

ABREJAP, however, said that they are still “100 percent supporting ABAP” and only had withdrawn their support on Picson.

ABREJAP said they have withdrawn their support due to “loss of confidence” and “abuse of authority” when Picson suspended allegedly without due process Luis Pacoma, Ariel Aposaga, Rodolfo Domingo, Tito Dacuma and Jerson Barato, which “is unjust and depriving for them to act as a referee and judge in any boxing tournament.”

They also accused Picson for allowing “non-R&J Commission member as member of the jury during ABAP tournaments clearly in violation of AIBA Competition Rules.”
