Bohol, Cebu tankers shine in Batang Pinoy Visayas leg

MAASIN CITY, (PNA) — Tankers from Bohol Province and Cebu City dominated majority of the events Thursday in the swimming competition of the 2013 Batang Pinoy Visayas leg held at Tacloban City.

Bohol Province took 13 gold, 3 silver and one bronze medals while Cebu City snatched 12 gold, three silver and one bronze medals.

Baybay City had three gold and eight silver medals; Bacolod City, two gold, two silver and two bronze medals; and Aklan Province, one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals.

Bohol Province’s Rian Marco Tirol led the onslaught by winning three gold medals in the boys’ 12 and under 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly and 200m breaststroke.

His team mates Jess Kenneth Omac won in m the boys’ 11-12, 400m and 200m freestyle; Zean Angelo Plateros, boys’ 11-12 200m backstroke; Patrick Louie Birad, boys’ 13-15 100m freestyle; Kay Leizlie Paredes, girls’ 12 and under 50m and 200m breaststroke; Job Vincent Aseniero, boys’ 13-15 50m and 200m breaststroke; and Jan Nino Rosales, boys’ 11-12 butterfly. Bohol also won the 200m medley relay in the boys’ 15-under.

Cebu City’s Karen Mae Indaya won three gold medals in the girls’ 13-15 200, 400m and 800m freestyle, and part of the girls’ 15–under 200m medley relay.

Other gold medalists from Cebu City were Madelin Capacio in the girls’ 13-15 200m breaststroke and 200m butterfly; Val Andrei Chiu, boys’ 12-under 100 freestyle; Justine Reign Garrido, girls’ 13-15 50m and 200m breaststroke; Michael Ichiro Kong, boys’ 13-15 200m and 50m butterfly; and Tara Kyla Ebon, girls’ 11-12 800m freestyle.

Baybay City’s Christal Ray Bullo won the girls’ 13-15 100m freestyle; Valerie Estramos, girls’ 12-under 50m butterfly; and Jelahlou Mendoza, girls’ 12-under 50m butterfly.

Bacolod City’s Merced Divina Rojo collected two gold medals in the girls’ 11-12 400m and 100m freestyle and took the bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Leyte Province got two gold medals courtesy of Justin Estremos in the boys’ 13-15 400m freestyle and 200 m backstroke.

Aklan’s gold medalist was Jude Georr Briones in the girls’ 11-12 200m backstroke.
