ILOILO CITY, (PNA) – Information Technology (IT) experts and tourism officers of the different local government units (LGUs) here are holding a one-day Google seminar-workshop to map up the different tourism destinations in the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras.
The Friday seminar-workshop is a project of Iloilo Board Member Carmen Rita Monfort Bautista who is the chair of the Committee on Science and Technology to promote the destinations and provide directions for tourists on how to get there.
Roselynne de Felipe, Google Business Group community manager who spearheads the seminar-workshop together with Bernardo Arellano III, said they are volunteer advocates of the Google Map Philippines promoting tourism destinations to help the local tourism industry.
Among the specific destinations up for mapping are the new circumferential road from Iloilo City to the Iloilo airport in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo province, and the Higantes island in Carles which is a popular destination for tourists because of its beautiful beach.
The newly renovated Plaza Molo with the life size statues of the Roman gods and goddesses in Molo district here considered as the “Athens of the Philippines” is also included.
After the seminar-workshop, Arellano said the participants could continue on mapping the different sites in the province.
