MANILA, (PNA) — Flashfloods and landslides threaten the Mindoro provinces and some parts of Palawan due to a low pressure area hovering west of Luzon, the state weather forecaster said on Thursday.
In its update, PAGASA said that as of 10 a.m. the LPA was spotted at 210 km west of Subic, Zambales (15.0˚N, 118.0˚E).
PAGASA said that these weather systems will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Southern Luzon and the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon, becoming moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms in Mindoro provinces and Coron island which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.
Weather Forecaster Chris Perez said that the LPA has a high chance to develop into a tropical depression.
Once it intensifies into a cyclone, he said it will be named “Paolo”, the 16th tropical cyclone to enter the country this year.
He added that the LPA continues to move westward going towards Vietnam.
