ILOILO CITY, (PNA) -– The Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) is now accepting nominations for its five-seat Board of Directors.
MIWD Corporate Secretary Oscar C. Tagamolila said the water district has already called on all the sectors represented in the board to submit their respective nominees preferably by next week.
The board would be composed of representatives from the civic, professional, women, business, education and religious sectors.
The number of nominees has no limit.
“It all depends on the sectors concerned if how many persons they will nominate,” Tagamolila said in an interview Wednesday.
From the short list of nominees, Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has to choose one from each of the five sectors and appoint them as members of MIWD board, he said.
Defensor said he expects the new set of MIWD directors to institute reforms to resolve the recurring water shortage in the province and city of Iloilo.
“The Board (of Directors of MIWD) has a lot of things to do and among which is how they can improve the services of the water district,” he said.
At present, MIWD’s legislative-making body is manned by an interim board of directors appointed by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA).
