NGCP schedules power interruption due to maintenance shutdown in Negros Oriental

Posted on September 25, 2013

DUMAGUETE CITY, (PNA) -– The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has scheduled a maintenance shutdown in some parts of Negros this weekend that would temporarily curtail power supply in certain areas on the island.

The maintenance shutdown along the Amlan-Mabinay (Negros Oriental) 138kV lines is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, according to Elmer Cruz, NGCP Visayas CorpComm and Public Affairs Office in a media release.

The maintenance shutdown schedule is as follows: Amlan-Mabinay 138kV Transmission line 2 on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Amlan-Mabinay 138kV Transmission line 1 on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For the duration of the shutdown, manual load curtailment may be implemented in parts of the franchise areas of the following NGCP customers, namely, Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO), VMC Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (VRESCO), Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NOCECO), all in Negros Occidental, and Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORECO II) in Negros Oriental.

The manual load curtailment may be conducted to avoid overloading of the lines that will carry the load of the lines under maintenance, said Cruz in his media release.

Normal operations will immediately resume after work completion. NGCP customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption.

Cruz said “specific cities and municipalities that may be affected by the power interruption are determined by the abovementioned Distribution Utility (DU), unless the activity will have an effect on the entire franchise area.

The DU allocates the available power within its franchise area and implements the power interruption schedule among the end-users”.
