PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, (PNA) -– Governor Antonio Cerilles has launched a humanitarian campaign calling on the residents in this province to extend help to the families displaced by the standoff in Zamboanga City that entered the 17th day Wednesday.
The humanitarian campaign dubbed as “Help Zamboanga City evacuees” was launched in partnership with the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU), said Provincial Information Officer Leo Santillan.
“I am asking the kind-hearted residents for donations. Those who want to donate can visit the provincial capitol from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. to drop their donations,” Santillan said, quoting Cerilles as saying.
Santillan said they will accept donations in cash or in kind for the thousands of families displaced by the standoff that started last September 9 when hundreds of MNLF rebels infiltrated Zamboanga City.
He said the cash donations can be deposited directly to ADZU Bank of the Philippines Island (BPI) account no. 2111-000-142.
He said that Cerilles has also encouraged the mayors of this province’s 26 municipalities to conduct the same humanitarian campaign and bring their donations to the provincial capitol by Friday.
He said the donations will be turned over to the Crisis Management Committee next week.
