UNITED NATIONS, (PNA/Itar-Tass) — Russia expects that a UN Security Council resolution on Syria will be fixed within the scope of the Geneva Accords, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated here on Wednesday.
“Our talks were productive. We have a common understanding as to how to move ahead and do that on the strength of the framework accord that was reached by us in Geneva,” the Minister said.
“We reaffirmed the substantiated nature of the approaches inherent in the Accords. These approaches have been supported by an overwhelming majority of UN Member-States.
We hope that, without going beyond the framework that was outlined in Geneva, we shall be able to fix a UNSC resolution which is to be adopted immediately after the members of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) vote for the text of their decision,” Lavrov pointed out.
