Underprivileged Davao athletes to benefit from Cooperative Month fun run

DAVAO CITY, (PNA) -– Proceeds of the inaugural project of the newly-formed Davao City Sports Consumer Cooperative (DCSCC) will benefit underprivileged athletes here, who are mostly joining the Batang Pinoy National Games slated in Bacolod in November.

DCSCC chairman Salvador Paholio said they are joining this year’s week-long Cooperative Month celebration which kicks off October 5.

He said the celebration will have its inaugural project billed as the “Takbo Para sa Mga Atleta” Fun Run on October 27 set 5:00 a.m. at Jaltan Magallanes St. corner City Hall Drive.

Categories in the 3K, 5K and 10K have cash prizes and medals up for grabs. Registration fees are P250 (3K and 5K) and P300 (10K) inclusive of a singlet, race bib, certificate, snacks and raffle stub.

The biggest delegates from the schools, running clubs and cooperatives will earn P2,000 cash with a plaque.

Aside from the motorcade, other activities are the Trade Fair and Exhibits for Coop Service Providers on Oct. 7-11 at the Sangguniang Panglungsod Lobby; Agri-Products and By Products on Oct. 7-25 at the Osmena Park; Lunhaw Dabaw Tree Replanting and Growing on Oct. 12 at Magsaysay Park Complex; Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Mandated Trainings for Officers and Memebers on Oct. 15-16 at DCIPC Conference Room, Magsaysay Park; Medical and Dental Activity on Oct. 19 at Barangay Mandug, Buhangin; Inter-School Educational Contest on Oct. 20 at Magsaysay Park Complex; Cooperative Leaders Forum for Districts 1, 2 & 3 on Oct. 24 at World Palace, Ecoland; and Culmination Program on Oct. 26 at Vales Beach Resort in Toril.

DCSCC is a group of sports leaders from the national sports associations (NSAs) and organizers of different disciplines whose advocacy is to help athletes and development of sports in Davao City.
