MANILA, (PNA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported Tuesday that “Habagat” that occurred Monday has affected 14,167 families comprising 62,228 persons from 127 barangays in the National Capital Region (NCR), Region 3 and Calabarzon.
Of the affected families, the DSWD said 5,155 families or 22,819 persons are staying in 104 identified evacuation centers in the affected regions.
The department said NCR has 841 family-evacuees or 3,802 persons staying in 21 evacuation centers, Central Luzon has 35 evacuation centers with 1,497 families or 6,409 persons, and Calabarzon or Region 4-A has the most number of evacuees with 2,817 families or 12,608 persons staying in 48 evacuation centers.
It said that the DSWD in the affected regions and concerned local government units (LGUs) provided the evacuees with hot meals and food packs.
Total amount of assistance provided to affected affected families is P768,134 from the combined resources of the DSWD, concerned LGUs and non-governmental organizations.
Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon J. Soliman has instructed all DSWD offices in the affected regions to continue to coordinate with LGUs to ensure that the needs of the evacuees and other affected families are immediately addressed.
