ILOILO CITY, (PNA) — Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. will deliver his state of the province address (SOPA) Tuesday afternoon where he would lay down his priority programs in his second term as head of the province.
Defensor, who won through a landslide victory during the last May 2013 election in a bid for a second term, is expected to continue and upscale some of the programs that he has started in his first term and at the same time introduce new ones.
The governor is expected to upscale his pro-environment programs, Action for Regreening and Transformation and Artificial Reef for Transformation where last year he targeted to plant one million trees of assorted varieties in both the upland areas as well as in the coastal areas.
Defensor on his second term targets to plant 1.5 million trees now.
The other program the governor is expected to enunciate is the hospital enhancement that will modernize the healthcare delivery in the province.
The governor said that with the program many patients in Iloilo province could have easy access to the hospitals near them unlike now when they have still to be transported to the Iloilo city hospitals for treatment.
Meanwhile, Iloilo Provincial Board Secretary Atty. Raul Tiosayco said that since last week and over the weekend they had to prepare the session hall overtime in order to make sure that it is ready when the governor delivers his SOPA.
