ILOILO CITY, (PNA)- Police authorities in Capiz province confiscated scores of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions during a recent raid in a house in Barangay Dodingle, Dumarao town.
SPO3 Antonio Ponce of the Dumarao Municipal Police Station, said six firearms and three live ammunitions were recovered from the possession of 55-year-old Javelino Barrios and his son, Robert Barrios.
The recoveries include one long barrel 12-gauge shotgun, a single-barrel shotgun, one .38 caliber revolver, long barrel homemade 12-gauge shotgun, one .es38 snub nose revolver and one homemade pistolized 12 gauge shotgun.
SPO3 Ponce said the Barrioses failed to present pertinent legal documents on the seized firearms.
Ponce said the successful police operation led by Chief Inspector Francisco Villar of Capiz Police Provincial Office’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group along with elements of the Dumarao PNP station, was armed with a search warrant issued by the local court in Capiz.
The raid was also in line with the PNP’s campaign against loose firearms in the province, he said.
Meanwhile, Javelino Barrios and his 23-year-old son Robert are presently detained at the lock-up cell of the Dumarao Police Station while appropriate charges are being readied against them.
