BEIJING, (PNA/Xinhua) — More than 100 flights between southern Chinese coastal regions have been canceled due to Super Typhoon Usagi, one of the most powerful storms this year, airlines said on Sunday.
Air China said it has canceled 148 flights departing from and arriving in the cities of Xiamen, Shantou, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Macao.
China Southern Airlines said it has canceled all flights to and from Hong Kong and flights arriving at Shantou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen after 10 a.m. Sunday.
Usagi is forecast to hit south China’s Pearl River Delta between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.
It will bring strong storms to the east of Taiwan and the coastal areas of Guangdong, Zhejiang and Fujian provinces, according to the National Meteorological Center.
