TUGUEGARAO CITY, (PNA) — About 12,424 persons or 2,647 families from 16 barangays were affected by typhoon “Odette” in Batanes province, According to the Office Of Civil Defense (OCD)
OCD regional director Norma Talosig, said as of 7:00 a.m. Sunday, the Batanes province reported flooding in some areas. There were also reports of uprooted trees, damaged agricultural crops and toppled electrical posts, Many of the residential houses were unroofed and damaged by the typhoon said to be the strongest to hit the island in 25 years.
In Sabtang, Batanes, 50 percent of the houses were damaged based on the assessment conducted by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC).
On the other hand, in Cagayan Province the Department of Social Welfare and Development – 2 (DSWD) listed 2,643 families or 12,412 persons from 15 barangays were affected by ‘Odette’ from the towns of Gonzaga , Aparri and Calayan island.
