ISLAMABAD, (PNA/APP) — Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Sunday left here for New York to attend the United Nation’s General Assembly session.
The Prime Minister was sent off by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rasheed, PM’s Political Secretary Dr. Asif Kirmani and senior officials, at the Nur Khan Airbase.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and PM’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi are accompanying the Prime Minister during his visit to New York.
Prime Minister Sharif in his departure statment said Pakistan is a peaceful nation and wants promotion of peace in the region.
He said he would attend the UN’s General Assembly session being the prime minister of a responsible state.
Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan wants to promote trade ties with the world. He said his discussions with the global leaders would particularly focus on strengthening economic and trade relations.
The Prime Minister will address the General Assembly session on September 27 to highlight Pakistan’s foreign policy guidelines, its point of view on various regional and international issues besides domestic priorities.
During his weeklong stay in the New York, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the General Assembly session.
The Prime Minister will also attend various events during his stay in New York including high-level meetings on millennium development goals sustainable development and nuclear disarmament.
