MANILA, (PNA) — The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday afternoon issued advisory of moderate to heavy rainfall in the next three hours over Luzon including Metro Manila.
In its twitter account, a Yellow Warning Signal issued at 3:05 p.m., PAGASA said moderate to occasionally heavy rains affecting Metro Manila, Cavite, Pampanga, Rizal, Bulacan and portions of Batangas and Laguna would most likely to continue for the next three hours.
However, moderate to heavy with occasional intense rainfall is affecting Bataan and Zambales which might persist within three hours.
It warned of “possible flooding in low-lying areas and those located near the river and creek channels.”
“People are advised to monitor the weather condition and watch out for the next warning,” said PAGASA.
The weather agency also said the rains is due Southwest Monsoon or Hangin Habagat enhanced by Typhoon “Odette” affecting Luzon.
Weather Forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said that in the next two to three days, except in Mindanao expect cloudy skies with light to moderate rains in most parts of the country.
In its advisory, PAGASA said Southwest Monsoon affecting Luzon including Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Mimaropa will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which might trigger flasfloods and landslides.
It added that Bicol region and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
The weather agency also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to south will prevail over Northern Luzon and coming from the southwest over the rest of the country.
The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.
PAGASA also issued gale warning as strong to gale-force winds associated with the southwest monsoon enhanced by typhoon “Odette” might affect the seaboards of Northern and western Luzon.
“Fishing boats and other small sea crafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it said.
