MANILA, (PNA) — With the Zamboanga City stand-off now on its 12th day, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday announced that death toll for the conflict has now climbed to 113.
Military deputy public affairs chief, Major Angelo Guzman, stated the figure can be broken down into the following:
-AFP: 10 killed, 111 wounded;
-Philippine National Police: 3 killed, 12 wounded;
-Civilians: 8 killed, 48 wounded; and
-MNLF: 92 killed, 111 captured or surrendered
Guzman said they have no confirmed figures for the number of MNLF wounded in the stand-off.
Earlier, the AFP reported that the rebels took captive 183 civilians, of which 172 are now safely rescued.
Efforts are now underway to safely recover the 11 civilians believed still in MNLF hands.
